These fruits are a food source for some wildlife. Carpinus orientalis is found in a variety of natural habitats, often growing in mixed deciduous forests, scrublands, and on rocky slopes. Its native range extends from the Balkans eastward through Turkey, the Caucasus, and into parts of Iran.
