Water regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering during cooler months or when the plant is dormant. Ensure good drainage to prevent root rot, especially in potted specimens.

Allow the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Prune to shape the tree, remove dead or damaged branches, and improve air circulation. Light pruning can be done after fruiting. For fruiting, selective thinning can encourage better fruit development and size.

Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the plant.

Propagate by seeds, which require stratification and can be slow to germinate. Grafting or cuttings are more reliable methods for obtaining mature, fruit-bearing plants.

Cuttings should be taken from semi-hardwood in summer and treated with rooting hormone.

Repot young plants annually in spring, moving them to a slightly larger container. Mature trees can be repotted every 2-3 years or when rootbound. Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of peat, sand, and loam.
